BlueCross Hosts Drive-Through Flu Shot Clinic

  • Tuesday, October 18, 2016

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is partnering with Mt. Canaan Baptist Church to hold its second annual drive-through flu shot clinic on Saturday at the church parking lot (former K-Mart), 4801 Hwy. 58.

The event will also highlight safe medication disposal as a site to turn in unused and expired prescriptions during National Drug Take Back Day.

Walgreens Pharmacy representatives will be on-site in the church parking lot to administer flu vaccines from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Vaccines will also be given in the Blue of Tennessee mobile center.

Participants must be ages seven or older. The nasal mist vaccine will not be available at this event.

The BlueCross Health Foundation and Walgreens are providing 200 vaccine doses for those without insurance. Vaccines are available for $25.99 to those without insurance once the free vaccines are distributed.

BlueCross members or others with insurance coverage must bring their ID card to receive flu vaccines provided in their coverage.

Local law enforcement officials will collect unused and expired prescription medications during National Drug Take Back Day to reduce medication misuse and abuse. They’ll provide information on Count it! Lock it! Drop it!, a program supported by BlueCross to promote safe mediation storage and disposal.
