Berneice Helen Hulsey, 92, of Ooltewah, died on Saturday, October 15, 2017 at her home.
She was born in Antioch, TN on Sept. 28, 1924. She was the 4th of 5 children born to John Gregary and Pauline Johnson. She lived the first 15 years of her life in Nashville. She attended grades 1-8 in the Nashville Public School system. She later attended Nashville Junior Academy graduating from there with a scholarship to Southern Junior College. While there, she met and later married Harry W. Hulsey in August of 1942.
She loved being a homemaker and loved people in general. Her home and heart was always open to family, friends, the friends of her children and anyone in need. She served in her church wherever the need was at the time.
She loved the Lord and in her words, "I love my Lord and I am very thankful and grateful for His leading and blessings in my life and in the lives of those I love dearly. I have received great inspiration from the patriarchs of the old testament and the apostles of the new testament as they actually come alive in my reading and study of the Bible....l want to meet each one of my family and loved ones and each of you here today on that great resurrection morning when we can all go home together and live with Jesus our Savior throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity and that will be glory enough for me."
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Harry W. Hulsey; daughters, Pat, Linda, Jennifer (Jack) and Lucia (Don); three granddaughters, Audra, Ronda and Carmen; and one great granddaughter, Jordan.
A private family graveside was held at Collegedale Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by the East Brainerd Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
