Mildred Denton Frye, 87, passed from this life to her heavenly home joining, her husband on October 23, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Frye, infant son, Ronald Ray Frye, great-grandson, Hayden Mark Patterson, her parents Josh and Ethel Denton, brothers Raymond, Nat, Benson, Robert, Doyle, Lloyd Denton and sister, Lottie Beasley.
She is survived by daughters, Debbie (Donny) Bell of Hixson, Denice (Tim) Gilbert of Lilburn, Ga., grandchildren, Audra (Mark) Patterson, Lauren (Scott) Whidby, and Ethan Gilbert, great-grandchildren, Brett, Hannah and Noah Patterson, sister, Mary Etta Ballinger of Nashville, and brother, Wayne Denton of Old Hickory.
Mildred was raised in Carthage, Tn., and graduated from Smith County High School. Married to Ray in 1947, they moved to the Chattanooga area. She was retired from Blue Cross and was an active member of Dallas Bay Baptist Church. She volunteered for many church activities and loved to travel with friends and family. She also loved working in the yard, reading, and watching her grand and great grandchildren’s sporting activities.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 4-8 p.m., as well as 12-2 p.m. before the service. Brother David McNabb will officiate the ceremony and the pallbearers will be Wayne Denton, Jr., Gary Denton, Barry Ballinger, Carter Denton, Jimmy Denton and Daniel Holleman.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Christian, Thomas and the staff of Regency House along with the staff of Avalon Hospice Service for their kindness and support during her stay.
