Final Fireside at Greenway Farms: October 27

Thanks to Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union for sponsoring Fireside, a free, family friendly, outdoor music series. All ages are invited to come out to unplug and enjoy an autumn evening in the park. Bring your blankets and chairs, marshmallow roasting stick and perhaps a picnic supper, then sit back around the campfire and enjoy live music in this rustic setting.

The final Fireside event is Thursday, October 27 beginning at 7 p.m and ending at 9 p.m. You'll find us behind the gardens at the Sniteman Log Cabin at Greenway Farm Park, 5051 Gann Store Rd., Hixson, TN.

Vincent Ivan Phipps - Master Storyteller. Owner of Communication VIP Training and Coaching and professional storyteller; will delight the audience with original, family friendly, supernatural ghost stories from his book entitled, Spooky-nooga. Vincent Ivan Phipps. M.A., CSP has earned the Certified Speaking Professional designation. Established in 1980, the CSP is the National Speakers Association's and Global Speakers Federation's highest recognized honor.

Before Fireside, enjoy the changing season with a calm water paddle on North Chickamauga Creek in a canoe. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide all the equipment and support staff for you to paddle the creek at your own pace. Children under 30 lbs. should bring their own Personal Flotation Device (life jacket). Meet at the N. Chick canoe launch behind the old Sniteman Cabin. The Blue Trees October 31-November 5

The Blue Trees, by Konstantin Dimopoulos, is an environmental art installation that brings the community together to color trees in our Scenic City. Public Art Chattanooga is calling for volunteers to help the artist paint saplings at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center from October 31 through November 4. For more information about the project, installation dates and volunteer opportunities, click here. This project is generously supported by the City of Chattanooga with private funding from the Benwood Foundation, the Lyndhurst Foundation and the Footprint Foundation.

PumpkinFest October 28-29
Dayton's annual PumpkinFest, offers families an alternative to traditional Halloween activities. Two days of Fall Festival Fun including food, games, music, a movie in the park, costume contest, pumpkin pie eating contest, and trick-or-treating. Here is the full schedule of activities! Paddling by Moonlight October 29
Bring your own boat and join Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center's Naturalist, Corey Hagen, on an after hours trip along Lookout Creek. Paddling by Moonlight will offer a unique opportunity to see what happens on the property after the sun goes down on Saturday, October 29 beginning at 7 p.m. Cost General Public: Adults $15 / Children $7. Open Gate Days at Lula Lake October 29-30 & November 5-6
The temps are finally cooling, the leaves are finally starting to show some color (other than green and brown), which means...it's time for some fantastic fall hiking! Get out and enjoy some fall hiking at Lula Lake this weekend and next during their open gate days. You'd enjoy fall colors, mountain top views and waterfalls! 

Girl Power After Hours November 4
Girl Power After Hours hosted by the Downtown Chattanooga Public Library will offer an evening of fun, frivolity, girl power, and bonding with women of all ages. There will be activities for tomboys and girlie girls and everyone in between on Friday, November 4 from 6-8 p.m. Activities will include games, dancing, crafts and empowerment for Tweens and Teens. Outdoor Chattanooga will be there to teach girls about archery. Girls under 10 must bring a lovely lady in their life to join in on the fun. Advanced registration recommended. Velo View Bike Tours November 12 and 19
Velo View Bike Tours, is offering two free tours in November. Join them for one, or both. On Saturday, November 12, they'll guide a 24 mile tour around Chickamauga Battlefield, and on Saturday, November 19 they'll ride 25 miles in Sequatchie Valley. Both tours will meet at 8:30 a.m. for a shuttle to the ride location. For more information, email Shannon at Velo View or call 423-834-8388.

Public Meeting: Review Final Design Plans for Charles A. Bell Park in Alton Park on October 27
The public is invited to attend a meeting to review the final renovation plans for the Charles A. Bell Park located in Alton Park. The public meeting will be held on Thursday, October 27 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the South Chattanooga YFD Center, 1151 W. 40th St. For additional information contact City of Chattanooga's Parks Planner Akoshua Cook by email or call (423) 643-6889.
