Lee University Business Department professors Dr. Hermilo Jasso, Dr. Randy Miedaner, and Dr. David Smartt were selected to attend the 2016 Free Market Forum held in Atlanta.
The forum, titled “Markets, Government, and Common Good,” invites business authors, former presidential appointees, and selected business professors from all 50 states and numerous countries to discuss global business, economic issues, and scholarship sponsored by Hillsdale College and the Durell Foundation.
“Being part of a group of less than 170 business professors selected nationwide to participate and be provided a full scholarship grant to attend was a great honor,” said Dr. Miedaner, assistant professor of business. “It was such a great experience to be able to share insights with some of the countries’ leading business professionals, authors, and professors.”
Dr. Jasso, associate professor of business, joined Lee's business faculty in 1987 after a successful stint in the business world. He earned his doctorate from the Universidad De La Empresa in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Dr. Miedaner joined the faculty at Lee in 2011 after leaving his position as senior vice president for a Fortune 100 investment bank and tax attorney for a top 100 law firm. He received his doctorate from Louisiana State University Law School.
Dr. Smartt, assistant professor of business, joined the business faculty in 2012. He earned his doctorate in management from Northcentral University and is an ordained bishop of the Church of God.
The Free Market Forum is hosted by Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mi. It aims to encourage the study of free enterprise by bringing scholars together for dynamic exchanges of ideas on topics related to free market economics.
