County school officials say they received recent complaints against the driver charged in a tragic school bus accident on Monday afternoon.

Officials said the complaints against Johnthony Walker were promptly forwarded to the firm he drove for, Durham School Services.

Officials said, "In the wake of Monday's tragedy, the Hamilton County Department of Education has received many inquiries regarding Johnthony Walker's employment history.

"We are aware of some recent complaints lodged against Mr. Walker and the way he operated his bus. Per our protocols, these complaints were promptly forwarded to Durham School Services. As the direct employer of Mr. Walker, Durham (a private company which provides HCDE with nearly 200 school bus drivers) manages all employee matters for him and the other drivers. Durham also maintains all personnel files for its employees.

"Multiple agencies have open investigations ongoing at this time. We hope to release more information once these investigations are completed."
