Theta Phi Chapter, UTC Silver and Pearls Reunion
Members of Theta Phi Chapter, UTC journeyed from across the country to celebrate 25 years of sisterhood. The “Silver and Pearls” reunion was a time for collegiate members and alumnae to unite together in a common bond of members in Sigma Kappa.
The weekend kicked off with the annual Homecoming Tailgating event and UTC football game. Theta Phi was honored to be named “Best Sorority” for the second consecutive year, and members supported member Jessica Bastianelli who was selected by the University to serve as Homecoming co-chair and represent the student body on Homecoming Court for her leadership.
The festivities continued later that evening for alumnae and guests at a semi-formal gala held at the Hunter Art Museum, planned by alumna member, Tiffany Taylor Gregory. Attendees enjoyed local fare, music and memories shared through digital media. Alumnae heard about plans for Theta Phi’s new chapter house, scheduled to begin construction in 2017.
With so many special guests in town, the chapter took the opportunity to have an early Founders’ Day celebration with alumnae the following morning. Over a brunch at the Doubletree Hotel, sisters commemorated their founders and took time to remember sisters lost. Recent chapter accomplishments were highlighted, and colony members and past chapter presidents, Cindy Eblen Abello, Kymn Sherman Lee and Tracy Lucus Dockery shared memories from the past.
“Alumnae relations is a critical to Sigma Kappa, and Theta Phi would not be where it is today without the support of its alumnae members and dedicated volunteers," said Theta Phi's Outgoing President Kristin Martin. "Our chapter continues to thrive because of the strong foundation that colony members created 25 years ago and the countless contributions that over 1,000 initiated members have made since we were founded at UTC in 1991.”
