UTC's Craine Named To Academic All-District Team

  • Thursday, November 3, 2016
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior running back Derrick Craine is on the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team for the second year in a row.  Nominees must have at least a 3.3 grade-point-average and be a significant contributor on the field to qualify.

Craine, a native of McDonough, Ga., has a 3.61 g.p.a. as a Health & Human Performance major.  He is a two-time Academic All-Southern Conference honoree, and last season became the second Academic All-American in the history of the football program.
Craine is one of five Mocs to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, and the third to do it twice.
Others include Freddie Patrick (1997), Adam Miller (2011-12), Davis Tull (2012-14) and Nick Pollard (2014).

Craine has missed the last two games with an injury, but still ranks second in the SoCon and No. 13 in the FCS with 102.1 rushing yards per game.  He is also second in the league in yards per carry (6.9) and rushing touchdowns (9).

Chattanooga is currently ranked No. 8 in the nation with an 8-1 overall record.  The Mocs are second in the conference race with a 6-1 league tally.  UTC is off this weekend and next hosts Wofford for Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.).

The Wofford game is also Military Appreciation Day, so all active and former members of the military and their immediate families get FREE admission to the game.  Call or stop by the UTC Ticket Office to get more details.  Tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com, at the UTC Ticket Office or by calling (423) 266-MOCS (6627).
