Jackson L. “J D” Davis, 64, of Resaca, Georgia, died on Monday, November 28, 2016 at his home with his loving family at his bedside.
J D was born January 28, 1952 in Calhoun, Georgia, to the late Jack Davis and Ester Lurlene Perkins Davis; and was also preceded by brother, Charles Ray Potts; sister, Carolyn Ann Dockery; and brother-in-law, Ricky Poarch.
J.D. was a 1973 graduate of Red Bud High School and was a mechanic by trade and supervisor plant manager at Calhoun Plastics for over twenty years. J D was an original country boy who never met a stranger and was always happy and enjoyed life. He loved hunting and fishing and restoring old tractors. He was a founding member of the Gordon County Antique Engine and Tractor Club.
He is survived by the love of his life for 41 years, Glenda Harkins Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Dewayne “Joe” and Tabitha “Tabbie” Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Doug Ralston; grandchildren, Jazmine and Gabrielle Ralston; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Arlene Davis; sister, Patricia Poarch; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jackson L. “J D” Davis will be held Thursday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Wesley Hunt and Reverend Andrew Bowen officiating. He will be laid to rest at Haven of Rest Cemetery with Clyde Burchett, Kim King, Marty Potts, Doug Smith, Roy Smith and Ed Harkins serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Burton, Gordon Stafford, Jerry Thompson, James Bryan and his co-workers at Calhoun Plastics.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 and after 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1.
