Dozens of friends and co-workers turned out Dec. 14, to wish Whitfield County Commission Chairman Mike Babb well on his retirement from the board after 16 years of service (1996-2004 and 2008-16).
The highlight of the retirement reception, held in the vending area at the courthouse, came when employees of the Public Works Department unveiled an impressive wooden bench they built for Chairman Babb, who said it will be installed on the fishing deck at the Miracle League Complex.
