Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Shults Pitts, 97, of Calhoun, Georgia, died on Saturday, February 6, 2016.
She has lived in the Calhoun for the past 15 years, and was formerly of Ringgold.She was born January 27, 1919 to the late Horace T. and Linda Mae Canupp Shults at Sevier County, Tn., in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd V. (Red) Pitts; two grandsons, Lonnie Stephens and Travis Pitts; two brothers, Clifford and Bill Shults and Four sisters, Agnes, Beatrice, Deanne and Peggy Sue.
She is survived by three children, Betty J. (Clyde) Allen of Calhoun, GA., David (Gussie) Pitts of Okeechobee, FL., and Marvin “Mac” Pitts of Smyrna, GA.; brother, George “Sam” (Lillie) Shults of Avon Park, FL.; four grandchildren, Randall Stephens, Aaron Pitts, Pamela Matos, and Tim Allen; seven great grandchildren, Brett Stephens, John Stephens, Corey Stephens, Wes Gray, T.J. Allen, Tucker Allen and Ashley Stell; five great-great grandchildren, Landon Stephens, Isabelle Stephens, Ethan Stephens, Marley Gray and Easton Allen; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor DeWayne Smith, Brother Donald Self and Wanda McAllister officiating. Interment will follow at Gordy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 8, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday until funeral time at the funeral home.
