Velma Quarles
Velma Weeks Quarles, 84, of Dalton, and longtime resident of Rossville, died on Thursday, March 24, 2016.
Mrs. Quarles had lived most of her life in Rossville and the past five years in Dalton. She was of the Church of God faith and was a pastor’s wife to her late husband, Reverend Earl Weeks who had pastored Luckie Street Church of God in Dalton and 46th Street Church of God in Chattanooga. Her passions in life were God, family, traveling, and listening and attending Gospel Music concerts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Earl Weeks; and mother, Winnie Lanning.
Survivors include her husband, David Quarles of Dalton; two children, Billy (Annette) Weeks of Ringgold and Brenda (Wayne) Sinard of Rossville; two sisters, Wilma Jean (Bill) Flowers and Shirley Bennett; five grandchildren, Billy (Martha) Bishop, Abby Weeks, Rebecca Weeks, Roy Walden, and Shaun Sinard; two great granddaughters, Katie Bishop and Taylor Bishop; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Jerry Davis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 25, from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
