The UTC Jazz Band will host an evening of diverse jazz on Wednesday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall in the UTC Fine Arts Center.
Vocalists Jeron Burney, Kayla Petrille and Alea Tveit will be singing some swing standards including A Tisket A Tasket (an Ella Fitzgerald classic), Fascinating Rhythm and The Days of Wine and Roses. The program also includes charts that set a mellow mood like the pensive Here’s To Life (made famous by Shirley Horn) and the laid-back A Walkin’ Thing by Benny Carter. The more modern approach of Freddie Hubbard, Horace Silver, and Kenny Dorham will be added to the mix, along with the classic energy of Count Basie.
