University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.) took first in the women’s 800 meter at the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Relays Saturday afternoon and second in the 1500 meter run.
Melchionna covered the 800m distance in a time of 2:10.43 while teammate Hannah Chamblin (Memphis, Tenn.) ran a PR time of 2:13.77. Madison Watson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) finished with a time of 2:28.75, Anna Kate Chance (Columbia, Tenn.) was a few spots behind her with a time of 2:30.73 and Keeley Stewart had a time of 2:33.43.
In the 1500 meter, Melchionna ran a PR 4:36.86 placing second overall behind Miami (Ohio)’s Laura Bess.
Jessica York (Normandy, Tenn.) was sixth with a time of 4:41.34 and Emily Drouin (Verona, Ontario) was one spot behind with a PR time of 4:42.29.
Chance ran the middle distance race in a time of 5:00.35 followed by Stewart at 5:01.01 and Helenka Kiss (Columbia, Tenn.) at 5:17.03.
Freshman Haley Morris (Lenoir City, Tenn.) ran her first 3000 meter Steeplechase and finished eighth overall with a time of 11:59.16.
In the men’s races, freshman cross country runner Brennan Huber (Manchester, Tenn.) finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.77. Freshman John Payne (Portland, Tenn.) was 13th with a time of 2:00.45.
Payne was the first Chattanooga across the line in the 1500 meter placing eighth with a time of 4:02.96. Stuart finished with a time of 4:06.83 followed by freshman Mark Britt (Lebanon, Tenn.) at 4:06.84. Huber finished with a time of 4:10.07.
Britt placed sixth in the men’s 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 10:14.73.
The Mocs return to action next weekend at the Western Carolina Beynon Catamount Classic in Cullowhee, N.C.
