Mocs Softball Hosts MTSU Wednesday

The Chattanooga Mocs softball team squares off with its second in-state opponent of the season, Middle Tennessee, in Frost Stadium Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (E.D.T.). Chattanooga leads the series 18-2 with the Blue Raiders.

Tickets for individual games in Frost Stadium are $5 for adults and $3 for youth. UTC students are admitted free with a valid Mocs Card. Call the UTC Ticket Office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627) or click the 'Ticket' link at the top of the page to order. 

UTC is 19-19 and 2-4 in Southern Conference play.

Senior Alyssa Taylor boasts a team-best .354 batting average, while senior Sam Taylor leads the squad with 29 runs and 43 hits.
Freshman Jordan Fortel has a team-high 21 RBI and four home runs.

In the last meeting between Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee, the Mocs won 4-2 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on April 28, 2015.

The Blue Raiders are 18-16 and 4-5 in Conference USA action. Middle Tennessee plays South Carolina at Orangeburg, S.C., Tuesday before heading to UTC.

Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee have two common opponents, Michigan State and Central Arkansas. The Blue Raiders' first game of the season was a loss to the Spartans 3-2, while the Mocs dropped a 4-0 contest to them on March 11.

At the end of February, Middle Tennessee lost two games to Central Arkansas 7-5 and 10-2, while UTC lost 10-3 on March 6.

The Mocs hit the road to face Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C., on Saturday and Sunday. A doubleheader is set for Saturday at 1:00 p.m., followed by a lone game Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
