Developers Of Proposed Crossroads Market At Signal Mountain Road Tout Benefits

  • Thursday, May 19, 2016

The proposed Crossroads Market at Signal Mountain Road will not require widening of Glendale Drive, developers said.

There was opposition to the project at the Planning Commission and it was delayed.

The developers said it "is designed to meet the needs of daily commuters. The 10,000-square foot market will feature locally grown produce along with well-known name brand products for customers to pick up on the drive home.

"Located across the street from the disc golf course at the foot of Signal Mountain, the market will attract anyone from those playing the course to those who simply want to stop on the drive home to pick up wine or a growler to accompany their dinner. In addition, the market will feature local brands such as Fleetwood Coffee, MoonPie and other Chattanooga heritage brands.

"Developers for the project have requested a traffic study to address any concerns regarding entry into the site and have received confirmation from the city of Chattanooga that Glendale Drive will not be widened. Located within the city limits of Chattanooga, the market will have no impact on a rumored property tax increase.

"In addition, the developers are taking a thoughtful approach by limiting the daily hours of the market from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m.; limiting the loading, delivery and dumpster hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and, by making sure lighting remains on the property and does not pollute area properties or neighborhoods.

"An in-store restaurant concept is being determined at this time that will complement, not detract, from other eateries in the area. The developers priority is to provide fresh food and easy options for travelers on the daily commute home.

"Once open, the Crossroads Market at Signal Mountain Road will employ 40 individuals.

"The market will also support non-profit organizations.
