UTC's McLennan Jumps 11 Spots At NCAA Shoal Creek Regionals

  • Friday, May 6, 2016
It was moving day at the NCAA Shoal Creek Regionals Friday and Chattanooga Mocs golfer Emily McLennan did just that. Her 3-over par 75 was good enough to propel the Aussie 11 spots up the leaderboard.

She started with a bogey on 10 before birdie at the par 5 11th staying even through her first six. Bogeys at 16, 18 and 1 dropped McLennan to +3. Another par 5 birdie on two, she played -2 two on the four long holes today, got the senior back to +2 where she remained until bogey at the par 4 9th, her last hole of the day.

Matilda Castren (Florida State) and Kacie Komoto (Northwestern) are tied for the lead through 36 holes at +1 (145).
Marianne Li (Cal) and Linnea Johansson (Oklahoma State) are tied for third at +2.

McLennan’s 75 was more than four strokes better than the field’s average tally (79.15) today. It also matched her career-best in the NCAA postseason also shooting 75 over her second 18 at the 2013 East Regionals in Auburn.

No. 8 Northwestern is the team leader at 590 (+14). No. 22 Florida State is six shots back in second at 596, while No. 9 Oklahoma State’s 598 places it in third with 18 holes to play.

Saturday’s final 18 sees McLennan start at 9:15 a.m. (CDT) on the first tee. Live scoring and pairings are linked above.
