James (Jim) Ross Carlisle, III, 73, of Rocky Face, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nancy Carlisle; and a brother, Gregg Carlisle.
Jim was a 1965 graduate of Wheeling College in Wheeling, WV, where he met his bride of nearly 50 years when she asked him to the Sadie Hawkins dance. He earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Wheeling College and a M.BA from Scranton University in 1967. Upon graduating, he and his bride drove cross country in a convertible corvette to begin a new job at TRW in Redondo Beach, California. He later was transferred to Dalton, Georgia and began working in the carpet industry. Jim was dedicated to his work, but he loved his family about all else. The oldest of twelve children, he was always the life of the party. He had a special gift for making others laugh. He loved to dance, especially in the kitchen. He adored his grandchildren, and he never failed to express his love and pride for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Carlisle, of Rocky Face; daughters, Alicia Vaughn (Gandi), Angela Carlisle and Jennifer Ross (Ty), all of Dalton; sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Palmer, Marilyn (Harry) Ballard, Mark (Mary) Carlisle, Becky (Erin) Carlisle, Marsha (Wayne) Leytrick, Kitty Carlisle, Susie (Dan) Dellapiazza, Nancy (Bob) Spotti, Bess (Nelson) Rodrigo and Faith (Mike) Morgan, all of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, James (Karen) Woolls, of Ringgold; grandchildren, Gracen and Gillian Vaughn, James and George Ross, all of Dalton; special friends, Rosemary Jasperse of Rocky Face, and Michael and Krista Jasperse of Cumming, GA; and many loved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 3, at 3 p.m. at Julian Peeples funeral home, Westside Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the memorial service from 1-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jim to his favorite and most beloved charity, Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
