Roland “Pig” Thomas Ashley died on June 25, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laymon and Maybell Ashley; brothers, Jimmie Ashley , Charles Ashely, Sr.,  Emmet Ashley, Sr. and Laymon Ashley, Jr.; sisters, Juanita Ashley, Etherlena Ashley and Aline Ashley Livas.

He is survived by his brother, Eddie Ashley; sisters, Margaret Ashley and Lizzie Morris; nephews, Charles (Daphne) Ashley, III, Jimmie Ashley, Jr., Michael Ashley; nieces, Daphne Ashley Strong, Cynthia Caffey, Brenda Lowe, Sonja Ashley, Carolyn Renee Ashley, Patricia (Calvin) Stoudemire, Angela Hudson, Valerie (Reginald) Poindexter, Myra Jones, Thelbet Morris, Linda Stewart; great-nephews and nieces; dear friends, Cleveland Bell, Willie Hammonds and Ronnie Puckett; Health Center at Standifer Place workers, Sarah Haas, Robert Harrell, Terrie Collier, Michelle Lylas, Glenda Mathis and Melissa Murphy.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, July 1, at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors Anthony Williams and Jimmy Ingram officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
