Fort Oglethorpe Fire Fighters To Fill The Boot To Raise Critical Funds For Local MDA Families

  • Wednesday, June 29, 2016

Members of the Fort Oglethorpe Fire Department will have their boots in hand for the fire fighters' Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to help free kids and adults from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility.

The event will be held in front of the Walmart Supercenter at 3040 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe on Saturday July 9, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

For more than six decades, fire fighters have stood on the front lines to fuel MDA’s mission to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy and other related life-threatening diseases that take away people’s ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.

Funds raised through 2016 Fort Oglethorpe’s Fill the Boot drive empower families with life-enhancing resources and support, including state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

They also help give more than 100 local kids the
opportunity to experience the best week of the year where anything is possible at MDA summer camp at no cost to their families at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, Ga..
