Former UTC athlete and Tennessee track coach Rodney Stoker has been selected to lead McCallie’s flagship summer program as Director of McCallie Sports Camp.

Mr. Stoker replaces Hank Bramblett ’95, who was recently named Director of Boarding Admissions at McCallie.

McCallie Sports Camp is a two-week boarding camp that hosts 375 campers from around the country in three sessions each summer. Mr. Stoker will be charged with management, hiring, programming and camper recruitment for McCallie Sports Camp.

"I'm thrilled to have Rodney as our new Sport Camp Director,” Director of Summer Program Mike Wood said. “He is a man of tremendous character and talents who thoroughly understands the importance of understanding relationships and helping boys acquire the skills to be men of Honor, Truth and Duty at McCallie."

In addition to his Sports Camp duties, Mr. Stoker will be part of McCallie's Boarding Admissions team, and he will help coach the Blue Tornado cross country and track teams. He also will be the director for the McCallie Cross Country Invitational and the McCallie MidSouth Track Classic.

"I'm honored and excited to be the next Director of McCallie Sports Camp,” Mr. Stoker said. “After working eight summers it’s great to be back alongside two great mentors and friends in Mike Wood and Hank Bramblet. I'm humbled by the opportunity that Headmaster Lee Burns has given me and my family. It is an exciting time to be in Blue."

For the past four years, Mr. Stoker has been assistant track and cross country coach at Tennessee, working with men and women distance runners as well as recruiting for the Vols. Under his guidance, Chelsea Blaase and Peter Okwera earned AllAmerican honors in cross country.

For seven years, Mr. Stoker was the men’s and women’s cross country coach at Bryan College, where he was selected Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year Award on four occasions.

Mr. Stoker is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he won two Southern Conference cross country titles and helped the Mocs win the South Regional in 1998 to advance to the NCAA National Championship. He received a degree in exercise science in 2000.

Mr. Stoker and his wife, Kimberly, have three children: Owen Miles, Ian Pace and Hudson Lane.
