Dalton State Women's Soccer Begins Its 1st Season Of Play Ranked 8th Of 9 Teams In The SSAC

The Southern States Athletic Conference continued releasing the 2016 Fall Sports Preseason Coaches’ Polls on Wednesday. It was the women’s soccer teams that received the spotlight on “hump day”.  

Dalton State’s women will enter their initial season of play ranked eighth in the nine-team poll.

William Carey tops the SSAC predictions with 77 points and five first-place votes. No. 2 University of Mobile received 71 points and two first-place votes. Martin Methodist is a close third with 68 points and two first-place votes.

The remainder of the conference has Middle Georgia State (51 pts.) in fourth followed by Bethel (43 pts.), Brenau (38 pts.), Faulkner (30 pts.), Dalton State (14 pts.), and Brewton-Parker (13 pts.).

Roadrunner fans will have a chance to see the women meet Milligan College in a scrimmage at Lakeshore Park on August 23rd at 4:30 p.m.

Following a swing through Florida and Tennessee, Dalton State will eventually have the regular season home opener on September 28th when they play Oakwood University at 3:00 p.m. Conference opponent Middle Georgia State College comes to town on October 1st at 5:00 p.m.

The SSAC men’s cross country preseason rankings will be released on Thursday and the women on Friday afternoon.
