Robert Dewitt Hughes, 84, of Woodstock, Georgia, died on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his residence.
Rev. Hughes was a member of and former pastor of Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Tennessee. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from the state of Tennessee at the age of 70 and retired from preaching at the age of 84.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Samples and Pastor Terry Sandridge officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, Tennessee with Pastor James Dunn officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at South Canton Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Graham Hughes; grandchild, Robert Dewitt Hughes III; sister, Frances O'Shields; and brother, Clyde Hughes.
Survivors include his son, Bob and Hillary Hughes, daughters, Pam & David Bentley, Robin & Nick Harvill, Christie & Chris Lyons, 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
