Donations Requested To Replace Monument Honoring Lives Lost In 2011 Tornadoes

  • Friday, August 19, 2016

In June of this year there was a car crash at the corner of East Brainerd Road and London Lane destroying the monument and memorial site honoring the 15 lives lost during the 2011 tornadoes that devastated the Apison and Cherokee Valley communities.  The crash completely destroyed the monument as well as causing significant damage to the flagpole and landscaping surrounding the memorial area.

The original memorial was made possible through the many donations received from citizens and businesses to ensure the community remembered and honored these 15 lives.

The Apison Community is now seeking funds to replace the monument and expand on the memorial.

Bill Hullander said he hopes it can be replaced and the project completed prior to Christmas this year. Mr. Hullander said they have already received around 75 percent of the funds needed and is asking for community support once again to raise the additional funds needed to complete the project.

All donations are greatly appreciated and anyone wishing to donate can make their checks payable to: The Samaritan Center, 9231 Lee Hwy., Ooltewah, TN. 37363
