Organizers are now taking entries for the annual Cherokee Estate and Mountain View Open golf tournament, sponsored by Indian Trace Golf Course in Chatsworth. Entry deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19.

The tournament will be played on Friday, Aug. 26, at Indian Trace. A shotgun start will begin at 12:30 p.m. rain or shine. Registration will start at 11 a.m. followed by lunch provided by Chick-fil-A of Dalton.

A $500 per team entry fee includes the green fee, golf cart, range balls, lunch, one mulligan and one red tee drive. Participants will have an opportunity for prizes for a hole in one, closest to the pin, the longest drive, and team awards.

Motorola has signed up as Platinum Sponsor. Additional sponsorships remain available.  GT Distributors of Georgia in Rossville has donated a Glock 43 9 mm pistol that is being raffled. All proceeds go to benefit the kids at the two northwest Georgia youth homes, Cherokee Estate in Dalton and MountainView in Chatsworth.

Pye Kia of Dalton is providing car that golfers will have an opportunity win with a  hole-in-one.

“Our youth homes are tremendously important to kids who need a loving, secure atmosphere that they, for no fault of their own, did not have in the traditional family setting,” said Cherokee Estate Board Chair Bob Beavers. “Funds raised during the annual golf tournament are used to provide things and experiences for the girls and boys that could not otherwise be made available.”

Dewayne Hunt is again serving as coordinator of the event. “The northwest Georgia community has a collective huge heart,” said Mr. Hunt.  “The tournament is a great way for individuals to have a lot of fun and raise money for a very worthy cause, the youth of our communities. We always have great participation and we need to express appreciation to all of our sponsors, especially Indian Trace, Pye Automotives, Chick-Fil-A, Motorola, and GT Distributors.”

“It’s not too late to put together a foursome,” said Mountain View Board Chair Tom Starnes. “This is also great way to network with others who care about our community.”
