Larry Wayne Brown, 73, of the Laurelwood Estates in Rossville, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at his residence.

He was a graduate of Chattanooga Valley High School and lived most of his life in North Georgia with his family.  His only absence from his home was the time he served his country with the U.S. Marines and was awarded The National Defense Service Metal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. 

Larry was a loving and faithful husband, a devoted father, and a friend to everyone who knew him.  He loved to spend time with his family, relic hunt, fish, yard sale, garden and cook.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, coaching soft ball and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.

Larry was a member of the VFW post #3679, American Legion #217, Vietnam Veterans Chapter #203 and volunteered with the Railroad Museum in Chickamauga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lula Bell Brown, sister Charlene Davis, and brother, Jim Brown. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Karen Smith Brown; daughters, Kristy Hodson (Kyle) and Bethany Brown; grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah, Kyleigh, Dalton and Brody; sister, Barbara Whitley; brother, Bill Brown; several nieces, nephews and  his best friend “Buddy,” his black lab.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Burial will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with full military honors.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m., and Friday from 12–8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
