Langston Hughley Spence
The Dalton Police Department has a warrant for burglary for Langston Hughley Spence, 67, of Chattanooga, and needs the public’s help to determine his whereabouts. Spence is being charged in connection with a July burglary from a hotel room that occurred while Spence was out on bond for another burglary.
The burglary happened July 23, at the Days Inn at 1518 West Walnut Ave. While in the process of checking out of a room, the victim reported that his door had been left slightly ajar while he took luggage to his car. Upon returning, he found that his wallet containing cash, credit cards, and other identifying information was missing. A responding Dalton officer retrieved surveillance video that showed a black male later positively identified as Langston Spence walking down the breezeway of the hotel and pushing on doors to see if any were open. When Spence reached the victim’s door, it opened and he went inside.
After viewing the video, DPD Detective Chris Tucker recognized Spence. Detective Tucker had charged Spence on July 1 in connection with an April 2016 theft of a woman’s purse from Hamilton Medical Center. Spence was released on an OR bond in connection with that case due to a medical issue. Detective Tucker obtained a warrant for Spence’s arrest on the new burglary charge on Monday.
Langston Hughley Spence is a black male, standing approximately 5’7” tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds.
Anyone with information on Spence’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Chris Tucker at 706 278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 165.
