Ollie Mae Smith, 89, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, August 26, 2016 in an Atlanta hospital. 

She retired from Erlanger Hospital after 37 years of service.  She then was employed by Memorial Hospital, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips and finally Siskin as a foster grandparent.  She was a dedicated member of Pierce Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Smith; father, George Hood; mother, Alice Hood; and sister, Dorothy Hood Montgomery. 

Survivors include special nieces and nephews, May Singer, Linda Montgomery, Connie (Carlos) Hawthorne, Kenneth (Samantha) Montgomery, and Darrell Montgomery; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; 50 great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins; devoted friends, Alfreda Street, Buel Walker, and many other friends. 

Visitation is on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 1 p.m. at Pierce Avenue Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Willie Clark as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
