The Southern League has announced that Chattanooga Lookouts’ outfielders Daniel Palka and Zack Granite have been named to the Southern League Post-Season All Star Team.

This is Palka’s second career Post-Season All-Star Selection after being named to the Pioneer League Post-Season Squad in 2013.  Granite is also making his second appearance on a Post-Season All Star Team as he was named an Appalachian League All-Star in 2013.

Before being promoted to the Rochester RedWings on July 7, Palka tore up the Southern League.  In just 79 games, the slugger smashed 21 home runs and 65 RBIs.  Palka’s mark of 21 homers is still third in the Southern League.

The outfielder’s superb start led to numerous accolades throughout the season including being named a Southern League Mid-Season All Star, the Southern League Player of the Week for June 6, and the Southern League/MiLB Player of the Month for June.  In June, Palka hit .302 with 13 home runs, 30 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .802 and an OPS of 1.174.  His 13 HRs were tied for the most in all of minor league baseball that month while his slugging percentage was fourth.

Joining Palka on the Post-Season All Star team is outfielder Zack Granite.

After a slow first month to the season where he only hit .205, the speedy outfielder caught on fire recording 30 or more hits in each of the next four months.  Granite is currently hitting a league leading .302 and is aiming on becoming the first Lookouts player to win the Southern League batting title since Scott Van Slyke hit .348 in 2011.

This season he has also been a force to reckon with on the basepaths, stealing a league-high 52 bases.  With seven games remaining he is 52 steals are only one behind former Lookouts infielder Dee Gordon for the fourth most in single-season franchise history.

The Chattanooga Lookouts are currently in a race for the playoffs with only two regular season home games remaining.  Last season your support helped lead the Lookouts to the 2015 Southern League Crown and now the team needs your help to clinch a shot at defending their title!

Join the Lookouts tonight at 7:15 p.m. as they fight for a playoff spot on Food City Tuesday where fans who show their Food City ValuCard at the ticket office will receive Buy One Get One Free General Admission tickets to Tuesday’s game.

On Wednesday at 2:15 the Lookouts will play their final regular season home game. Fans with unused tickets from any 2016 Lookouts home game can exchange their ticket for a general admission ticket to Wednesday’s regular season home finale.
