Burn Permit Applications Now Available For 2016-2017 Burn Season In Hamilton County

  • Thursday, September 15, 2016
The Hamilton-County Air Pollution Control Bureau is now accepting burn permit applications for the 2016-2017 burn season.  Burning of brush and vegetation will once again be allowed with a permit on approved burning days in Hamilton County beginning Oct. 1.  Everyone is required to fill out a new application before receiving a permit.  To obtain a permit application, residents may:

·         request one by phone at 423-643-5970;

·         download one at www.apcb.org; or

·         apply in person at 6125 Preservation Dr., Suite 140 in Chattanooga

Residents will be charged a processing fee to help cover the expense of the program.
 Burning sites within the city limits of Chattanooga, Collegedale, East Ridge, Red Bank, and Ridgeside require a $50 fee and an inspection, completed by the Bureau Investigator, prior to receiving a permit.  All other areas in Hamilton County require a $5 fee and usually do not need an inspection.

The seasonal burn ban was implemented in 2005 as part of an Early Action Compact initiative to help Hamilton County meet the federal health standards.

For more information, contact the Air Pollution Control Bureau at 423-643-5970, go online to apcb.org, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
