Walden’s Ridge Utility District has announced the construction completion of a two million-gallon, pre-stressed concrete ground storage tank as part of WRUD’s ongoing efforts to provide "reliable, high quality water at the lowest possible rates" for its more than 3,100 mostly residential customers.
WRUD provides water services in the town of Walden and portions of the town of Signal Mountain, Sequatchie County, and Hamilton County on the Cumberland Plateau. WRUD also provides water to Lone Oak Utility District and Suck Creek Utility District.
"The completion of this project is another example of our efforts over the years to build a district worthy of our friends and neighbors,” said WRUD President Frank Groves. “We recognize the responsibility to our customers to provide reliable, clean water at the lowest possible rate."
The tank is located at the highest point in WRUD’s system area allowing for the use of a ground tank which is the most economical means to store water due to the elimination of aerial construction and repainting.
"We’re thrilled to have this project completed to better serve our customers, and we will continue to focus on initiatives to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer service levels and work toward additional future upgrades,” added WRUD General Manager Ron West.
The design and construction of the tank was completed by Crom Corporation, a firm specializing in pre-stressed concrete tanks that maintains a regional office in the Chattanooga area.
The official start of the project took place with a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 24, 2016.
