Hise, Mac (LaFayette)

Mac Hise, 74, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, while traveling home from a day of shooting with longtime friends.  

Mr. Hise was a graduate of LaFayette High School where he played football with the successful 1957-1959 teams, many members of which became lifelong friends.  He attended College at Freed-Hardeman, where he met his first wife, Carol Ann Ogle. They resided in LaFayette, Georgia and had a daughter, Leisa Hise Jones.  During his early career, Mac was a quality control engineer for E.T. Barwick Corporation. He earned an associate’s degree in engineering from Dalton College, and continued a career in the Carpet/Textile Industry until the mid-1980s. 

Mac married Marty Howard Hise in 1974. They resided in LaFayette, and had a son, Stewart Hise and a daughter, Kelly Hise Dobson. During the late 1980s, Mac became interested in computers. He began reading and experimenting with building computers in his garage. Soon he formed Micro Concepts and began building and servicing computers in the Walker County and Atlanta area. He continued working as a self- taught network operations consultant until his passing.  Mac also served his community as Chairman of The Walker County Tax Assessors Board.

Mac was a national champion in several categories as a Competitive Sporting Clay Shooter. He loved going to San Antonio, each year for the National Shoot.  He also liked playing guitar and listening to music. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his shooting buddies and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Ogle Hise; and parents, Chester A. Hise and Bessie Williams Hise. 

He is survived by his daughters, Leisa (Chris) Jones of LaFayette and Kelly (Russell) Dobson of Scottsdale, AZ; son, Stewart (Tifinie) Hise of Ooltewah; grandchildren, MacKenzie Jones, Bailey Jones, Ty Jones, Seth Hise, Aaron Hise, William Dobson, and Robert Dobson; and companion of 23 years, Mary Ann Large and her family.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, at Trinity Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Russ Dobson, Chris Jones, Coby Large, Ty Jones Seth Hise, Terry York, and Mark Hise.

Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Dyer, Norris Hall, Steve Tipton, Tommy Tipton, Mike Tipton, Ronnie Futo, Earl Gilbreath, James Akins, Billy Mullinax, Joe Thrash, Gary Farmer, Reese Harris, Troy Peak, and Malcolm Pickard.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5–9 p.m. and Thursday from 12–1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to: American Cancer Society Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge 2008 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, Tn. 37203.
