U.S. Army Veteran Was Former Federal And City Administrator

Joseph Spencer "Joe" Cannon passed away peacefully on October 2, 2017.

He was born in Chattanooga, in 1924, to the late Marie and Walker Cannon. Joe graduated from The Baylor School, Class of 1943. He entered the Army in 1944, landed on Utah Beach, Normandy and served in The European Theater. A graduate of The University of Chattanooga, Joe worked as a federal and city administrator in Chattanooga.

He was married for 65 years to the late Polly Cannon.

Joe is survived by his son and his wife, Spencer and Janis Cannon and granddaughter, Elizabeth Cannon.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.
