The Nashville Predators prevailed against the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4 Saturday night in what was a Stanley Cup Final rematch between the two teams at Bridgestone Arena.

Center Kyle Turris, traded to Nashville from the Colorado Avalanche on the 5th of this month as part of a three-team trade, looked good in his first game playing for the Preds.
He scored the first goal of the game for Nashville to tie it early in the second period answering for Pittsburgh’s Bryan Rust’s goal in the first. Turris would also make an assist on a Calle Jarnkrok goal in the third period.

In the second and third periods the scoring went back and forth between the two teams, tying up on several occasions and requiring the game to go to overtime and then a shootout.

Sidney Crosby was the only Penguins player to get one past Pekka Rinne in the shootout, whereas both Filip Forsberg and Kevin Fiala were able to succeed against the Penguins goalie.

“It’s obviously a big win for the team…definitely special,” Forsberg said about their win over the team that defeated them in the Final last season.

The Predators were recently named the best franchise in sports by ESPN. The Preds are now on a four game win streak thanks to Saturday night’s triumph. They face the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night at Bridgestone Arena.
