WWII Veteran Served 22 Years In The Army

Robert L. Hall, devoted father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017, surrounded by those who loved him.

Sergeant Major Hall achieved a successful 22-year career in the United States Army. His service included World War II, starting at the age of 17, and multiple tours in the Korean War. He returned to South Korea as an envoy to the South Korean Army. He also served as a military instructor for ROTC at both Georgia Tech and Ohio State Universities. Following active duty he retired and was a ROTC instructor at Central High School for 20 years.

He was a man of exceptional character and integrity. He was intensely devoted to his family and could never go anywhere without being recognized by former students, which he always enjoyed.

Those who will miss him most are his daughters, Renee Hall Greene and Robin H. George (Tag), grandson, Brandon Hall Greene, nephew, Charlie “Butch” Puckett (Conni), friend Sandra Banks and his dogs, Jimmy and Bo.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Edna E. Hall, parents, Mabel L. Hall and Maurice M. (Clara) Hall, brother, Leslie M. Hall and grandparents, Miller and Luella Hall.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2017, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
