Sankofa Fund Announces #GivingTuesday Grants; 3 Groups Receive Funds In November

The Sankofa Fund for Civic Engagement, a local philanthropic fund started by a group of community-minded African American young professionals, is commemorating #GivingTuesday 2017 by awarding three grants. 

“As a Giving Circle, it’s important for the members of the Sankofa Fund to celebrate #GivingTuesday by furthering our mission of providing funding to programs and projects that benefit Chattanooga’s African American communities,” said Rebecca Suttles, chairperson of the giving circle.

#GivingTuesday Grant Recipients:
The 800 Collective, for the project the Souls of Free Folks - $3,000
Project College, to take a group of young people to the Battle of the Bands/HBCU College Fair - $1,693.75
Lighthouse Network Services, for bicycles to promote health and wellness for participants of the youth gardening program - $1,000
