Sanderson Charged With Aggressive Panhandling Near Panera Downtown

Police have charged David Mitchell Sanderson with accosting Panera Bread customers downtown.

Sanderson, 45, is charged with aggressive panhandling.

Police on Wednesday were called at 11:32 a.m. to 417 Market St. on a report of two people "aggressively going after customers in an attempt to solicit and procure food/money/other items."

An officer said he spotted Sanderson and "immediately recognized him as a party who is known to panhandle and drink openly downtown.

"He was identified by several parties as the main defendant involved."

Sanderson was taken to the county jail.

He has an extensive criminal record, mainly for public intoxication.
