The Region 3-3A tournament championship basketball game pitting Cumberland County and Bradley Central scheduled for Wednesday night has been postponed until Thursday at 7 p.m. at Jim Smiddy Arena on the campus of Bradley Central High School.

The delay was necessitated by the threat of severe storms in the area that caused the closing of several school systems, including Bradley County, on Wednesday.

With the postponement of the girls’ title game, the boys’ championship showdown between Walker Valley and East Hamilton will go on as scheduled on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Cleveland High School.

There was some discussion of moving the boys game to Bradley Central to give fans a championship double-header, but it was decided to keep the boys at Cleveland’s Raider Arena, just 2 miles from Bradley Central.

The winners of Thursday’s games will host sectional games – the girls on Saturday and boys on Monday. Losing teams on Thursday will travel to play District 6-3A champions in the Murfreesboro area.
