Southbound Southern Lit Alliance Hosts Michele Moore April 9

  • Tuesday, March 21, 2017

Southbound Southern Lit Alliance will host award winning author Michele Moore on Sunday, April 9, at 2 p.m.  The event will be held at the Arts Building, 301 East 11th St. on the second floor.

The Cigar Factory, Michele Moore's historical novel entwining the lives of two families in 1940's Charleston, does not read like a story from the distant past. Ms. Moore collected stories from her family members who worked under the unbearable conditions that led to the 1945 Tobacco Worker's Strike. Combined with her extensive research and use of the Gullah dialect, Ms. Moore writes with a sense of urgency that makes history come alive.

Ms. Moore will read from her newest novel and discuss her inspiration for this story.

The event is free but seating is limited.  Reserve a seat here
