BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has elected Jack McCallie, M.D. to serve on its board of directors.

Dr. McCallie, an internist, has practiced medicine in Chattanooga for 30 years. After completing his medical education, he joined his father’s medical practice in 1987. Today, the practice is part of Beacon Health Alliance – Ridgeside Internal Medicine. In addition to his private practice work, Dr. McCallie served for more than 25 years as staff physician at the McCallie School, the college prep institution he attended and which his grandfather founded in 1905.

“Jack’s deep roots in the Chattanooga community and background in primary care will be of great benefit to our members,” said JD Hickey, BlueCross president and CEO. “His experiences as a physician will help support and inform our mission of providing peace of mind through better health to Tennesseans.”

Dr. McCallie earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1979 and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1984. He completed an internship at the University of Alabama Birmingham in 1985, and a residency at the University of Alabama Hospital in 1987.
