Carly Morrow Moss was inducted into the Girls Preparatory School Athletic Hall of Fame during the school’s Alumnae Weekend festivities April 22. A three-sport athlete at GPS, Moss was an important part of the Bruisers’ soccer, basketball, and track teams before she graduated in 2007.

Moss was named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State soccer team and the Chattanooga Times-Free Press Best of Preps soccer team as a junior.
She missed her senior year on the soccer field with a knee injury.

A three-year starter for the basketball team, she was twice named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State team, nominated for the McDonald’s All-American team, named MVP of the Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps, and named to the state tournament’s All-Tournament team as a sophomore, junior, and senior.

In track, Moss was a leader of three consecutive state championship teams, earning 13 state medals over four years in seven events and including a state championship in the 4x800 relay in her senior year.

At her graduation from GPS, Moss was named the recipient of the Headmaster’s Award for Elite Accomplishment in Athletics.

She received a basketball scholarship from the University of Kentucky, where she played for four years under Coach Matthew Mitchell and often appeared on the coach’s post-game television shows. She was a part of two NCAA tournament teams, one of which reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Women’s Tournament. Moss is currently a therapist for substance abuse and eating disorders at a local residential facility.

During the Alumnae Weekend luncheon at which she was honored, Interim Athletic Director Jeff Gaither reflected on his experiences coaching her on the track team, saying, "Carly is not only a winner; she refuses to lose."
