Kerri Hosmer Named Vice President Of Adult Education At GNTC

Pete McDonald, president of Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC), has named Kerri Hosmer the vice president of Adult Education. Ms. Hosmer brings several years of educational experience in a wide variety of post-secondary and K-12 settings to her new role.

Ms. Hosmer has served as the acting vice president of Adult Education at Georgia Northwestern for the past seven months. Prior positions in Adult Education at GNTC include director of instruction, Georgia Adult Learner Information System (GALIS) data software manager and supervisor of Pearson VUE testing, adjunct instructor, program administrative assistant, and volunteer for the Language and Literacy Center at the Rome-Floyd Public Library.

Ms. Hosmer has served as a Language Arts teacher for Floyd County Schools, Ware County Schools, Pierce County Schools, and Nassau County Schools. She also was an adjunct English instructor, Okefenokee (now Coastal Pines) Technical College; Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) resource teacher, Nassau County Schools; and an operations analyst and systems coordinator and administrative assistant, BancBoston Mortgage Corporation.

Ms. Hosmer holds a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from Jacksonville University and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from The University of Alabama. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from UVA. Hosmer studied American Sign Language (ASL) I at Florida State College in Jacksonville and ASL II at Georgia Perimeter College (now known as Perimeter College at Georgia State University).

As vice president of Adult Education at GNTC, Ms. Hosmer is responsible for the management of all Adult Education programs and instructional services at GNTC. Her responsibilities include the oversight of assessment and student placement tests for Adult Education students, maintenance of student records, hiring and supervising all Adult Education employees, managing the departmental budget, managing state and federal grants, and promotion of the Adult Education program to public and private organizations throughout GNTC's nine county service area.
