Life Care Center of East Ridge, an 81,000-square-foot rehab and nursing facility at 1502 McDonald Road, is now open.

Robert Hubbartt has been chosen to lead the new facility as executive director. Mr. Hubbartt most recently served as executive director of Life Care Center of Athens, Tennessee, for more than six years. During his time in Athens, he received a President’s Award for Life Care’s Eastern Division. He served as executive director at Life Care Center of Morgan County in Wartburg, Tennessee, for two years prior to that and started his career in senior care as a certified nursing assistant.

“This has been, by far, the most exciting challenge I have ever taken on,” said Mr.
Hubbartt. “I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to serve my community and to be part of a team of such talented professionals.”

Mr. Hubbartt earned his bachelor’s degree in long-term care administration and business administration, as well as his associate’s degree in accounting, from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale. He and his wife, Darlene, have a nine year old daughter, Haley. They live in Chattanooga.

Life Care Center of East Ridge sits just off I-75 in its previous site. It was one of Life Care Centers of America’s original six facilities and opened in 1975. The old building closed in 2015 and was completely demolished.

The new facility will place its primary focus on providing quality care to residents and patients in a serene and homelike environment. Accommodations include 108 beds, all private rooms and suites with their own private showers.

The rehabilitation services for both inpatients and outpatients will be extensive with a 4,000-square-foot rehab gym, state-of-the-art equipment and modalities and a balance park. A satellite rehab gym will also be located at the opposite end of campus for efficiency and convenience. The facility will have its own in-house team of physical, occupational and speech therapists.

While serving a wide variety of health care and therapy needs, Life Care Center of East Ridge has a focus on neurological rehabilitation for patients with diagnoses including Parkinson’s disease, strokes, infections and traumatic brain injuries.

Amenities include a library, a private dining room, a beauty shop, four private courtyards, two interior courtyards, three day rooms, three spa-like bathing rooms and an ice cream parlor, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi and satellite TV.

While the first few residents have been admitted, Life Care Center of East Ridge is estimated to open to the public in May, with an open house prior to opening. It is currently hiring for all departments, from therapy to nursing to dietary to housekeeping and plant services. When fully operational, it will employ an estimated 175 associates.
