Dr. E. Duke Richey was selected as the 2017 Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution Outstanding Teacher of American History at the TNDAR State Conference.

Dr. Richey, who teaches Advanced Placement United States History at the McCallie School, is a graduate of the McCallie School, University of the South,  University of Montana and University of Colorado, where he received his PhD  in American History.

The purpose of the award is to recognize a notable, full-time teacher of American History, who readily shares knowledge of American history, fosters a spirit of patriotism and loyal support of our country and the constitution, has high academic standards and is committed to and enjoys teaching.

Dr. Richey said, “I believe that the way I teach American history allows for the passion I have for the subject to show; and more than anything I do, probably the greatest gift that I can pass on to my students is this: Find the passion and the joy will follow.”

Dr. Richey was nominated by the Chickamauga Chapter, NSDAR .
