Lela Ross
Lela Mae Carr Ross, 69, of Chattanooga, passed away April 27, 2017 at her residence.
She was a member of Washington Park Missionary Baptist Church for 49 years and served as the church’s assistant secretary. Lela was a certified nursing assistant for over 25 years working at the Life Care Center of Collegedale and Life Care Center of East Ridge. She was house manager for RHA Health Services for approximately eight years.
Lela was preceded in death by her father, Percy Carr, Sr; mother, Lula Mae Carr; sister, Ollie Horn; brothers, William “Howard” Carr and Charles “Chuck” Carr.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Clarence Edward Ross, Sr.; daughters, Lowre (Derrick) Young and Lynette Ross,; son, Clarence (LeShawn) Ross, Jr.; and daughter of her heart, Barbara Bynum; granddaughters, Keashunda Isom, Domanek Watson, Jessica Watson, Desiree Young, Alexis Ross, Lexus Giles, Da’Cota Goodwin, Jewel Turner, Remedi Ross, and Mirrakul Ross; grandsons, Michael Johnson; Devin Bynum; Skylar Lewis; Kodi Johnson; Deonte Young; Edward Craig; DeVontay Craig; Kavaughn Conner; and Garasyn Pryor; sisters, Emma (Ed) Coppage of Crosbyton, TX and Minette Carr of Crosbyton, TX; brothers, Percy (Dee) Carr of DeSoto, TX; Louis Carr of Crosbyton, TX, Ray (Debbie) Carr of Wareham, MA, and David Carr of Lancaster, TX; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Carr, Carolyn Carr, both of Lancaster, TX; Mary Morris of Riverside, CA and Laverne Ross of Chattanooga,; brother-in-law, Charles (Ann) Ross of Pasadena, CA; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
She will lie in state on Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Minister James Powell as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
