D-Day Will Never Be Forgotten

  • Tuesday, June 6, 2017

June 6th, 1944 was a day like no other.  The Greatest Generation truly was the most courageous in our history.

As a member of Congress, I had the privilege of walking among the countless white crosses at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial where thousands of our patriots were laid to rest.  As one stands at the Pointe du Hoc above the beaches of Normandy, you can only imagine the pain, fear, love of country, bravery and heroism that our greatest of Americans felt on this infamous day.

We all live in freedom because those incredible men were willing to put their very existence between a foreign threat and our civilian population.  They gave their “last full measure” for each of us and we will never forget what they did.

With all the noise and confusion of this modern time, let us not forget what real heroes the Greatest Generation gave the United States of America.   We salute their courage on this day, June 6th.
