Tony Chirumbole, McCallie graduate of 2013, and some of his Georgia Tech classmates are spending the summer taking a road trip with the ultimate goal of providing help to the residents of Mongolia.

Mr. Chirumbole, a mechanical engineering student, and classmates Jonathon Murphy, a computer science major; Mitch Hotop, a recent aerospace engineering graduate; Rohan Iyer, an industrial engineering major; and Gunner Robinson, a mechanical engineering major, are traveling 11,000 miles from Brussels, Belgium, to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, as part of the Mongolia Charity Rally to benefit United Kingdom organization Go Help.

Mr. Chirumbole and his teammates are driving a 2009 Ford Transit 3.2L Ambulance for their journey, and they will donate the vehicle to the local community in Mongolia, where the vehicle will be used as an ambulance by local residents.

The students began their adventure Tuesday, June 27 and will travel through 23 countries on the route from Europe to Central Asia. The ambulance model they are driving was selected in part for the ease of locating replacement parts and long-term maintenance.
