The Bradley County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold its regular quarterly meeting this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Community Room at the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library. Dr. Richard R. Jones, professor of anthropology at Lee University, will be the program. The program is free and the public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Bryan Reed, president of the Bradley County Historical and Genealogical Society, said, “The mysterious tunnels under Cleveland were found about a year ago by workers working near Inman Street in the parking lot of the Bradley County Fire-Rescue building.  Dr. Jones and Lee University students have spent the last year exploring and researching the tunnels. The speculations and theories around Cleveland have ranged from being part of the Underground Railroad to the long discussed tunnel from the Julius Raht house to the railroad depot.”

During the meeting Dr. Jones will reveal the findings of the research and will provide answers about the mysterious tunnels.
