Patricia Shackleford Gray
Patricia Shackelford Gray was the recipient of the Civil Rights Justice by Action Youth Award at the 41st National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives Annual Training Conference & Exhibition in Atlanta.
Keynote speaker at the event and recipient of the NOBLE 2017 Civil Rights Outstanding Leadership Award was Ambassador Andrew Young.
Affectionately called "Pat" by many and "Mama Pat" by others, she is described as "a pillar of the community in the city of Chattanooga, a woman who is held high regards for many quiet selfless acts and for the generosity of her giving spirit especially in working with youth.
"She may be small in stature but has a big heart, and even bigger smile, which is always on display throughout the city and abroad as she shares her God-given talent with all people.
"She can be found recognizing students with creative talent and academic achievement through NAACP Act-SO program; organizing services for children with incarcerated parents, and voter empowerment by educating adults and young adults on the importance of voting rights.
"She has also been active with Noble's The Law and You program, kids interacting with law enforcement.
"Patricia devotes countless hours to giving back to the community. She has implemented several programs such as Black History "Who Paved the Way"; Standing for Civil Rights, Equality, Social Justice and Human Rights; Patricia Gray Scholarship; "Stay Warm" initiative donating socks and blankets to local homeless shelters, nursing home residents and youths.
"She has received several community service awards and is very active with many organizations."
"Ms. Gray has announced the formation of her own Foundation. She is meticulous, persistent and dedicated to helping. Her contribution to the community and youth has been immeasurable."
