The first Wash Away Hunger event in support of the firefighter food drive will proceed as planned on Friday at 10 a.m., at Normal Park Museum Magnate School, 1219 W. Mississippi Ave.

"This area may be experiencing some 'donor fatigue' related to efforts to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma," said Bruce Garner with the Chattanooga Fire Department.  "However, the problem of hunger is still present in this area and we will continue our efforts in trying to help the Chattanooga Area Food Bank deal with that problem. As a result, we have extended our food drive to Sunday, Sept. 24, in an effort to bring in more food. Collection barrels will remain at all 20 Chattanooga fire stations through Sept. 24."

Here are the dates for the Wash Away Hunger events that had to be re-scheduled due to this week's poor weather. Parents with children at these schools are encouraged to contribute to the food drive.

Sept. 15, 10 a.m. - Normal Park Museum Magnate School
Sept. 19, 1:30 p.m. - Red Bank Elementary
Sept. 20, 2 p.m. - CSAS
Sept. 21, 1:30 p.m. - Hixson Elementary
Sept. 22, 2 p.m. - E. Brainerd Elementary
